Children sicken me...

Sometimes I should say.  For example: meal time
Any guesses what the slime covering my child is?
You guessed it, home made mac and cheese
How do you teach that sharing is not always a good thing?  Keep your grubby mits to yourself.
It starts with some scalp moisturizing and then
we move to the face.

Owies, Funny Faces and Grazing...

Beginning to walk is exciting, but involves lots of owies. Here is Loreli's very first visible owie. Unfortunately it's on her face where everyone can see it. Curses on the end table that jumped out and bashed her lip!

Last weekend Loreli began to make this hilarious face. She has perfect timing too! Shea and I will be talking and something shocking will be said and we turn to Loreli and she is making this face. Or she will see a cool toy or a dog and turn to us and make the face. Hilarious.

Here's a messier version.

Yesterday for an afternoon snack I made some popcorn. Loreli has had popcorn before, but in an attempt to be good parents we have bitten off the kernel portion so she wouldn't choke. Yesterday she went nuts and crammed piece after piece into her mouth before we could stop her. This must have been too much of an effort for her because she grabbed the bowl and began to graze. Where did she learn that? Funny kid.

Apple Pick

Now North Dakota may not have the desirous smell of fall, but what could be more synonymous with fall than pickin' apples?

Our neighbors have a couple apple trees and one was so full it was attracting every hobo within 90 miles.  They said we could help ourselves, so we did.

Ms. Loreli was not as helpful as a little slave should be, but we still have quite a few years to get good work out of her.  We got 7 grocery bags full of apples.  We aren't sure what variety they are.  They are pretty tart and firm so we figured they be good pie apples.

With the help of little slicy-peely-McGee we made ourselves a lot of fine apple products.  "Apple wine, apple whiskey, apple martinis, apple nail polish remover, Snapple with vodka in it..."  Just kidding it was turned into apple sauce and apple pie filling.  We just bought our apple wine.  We have yet to make a pie we just use the pie filling to put on ice cream, pancakes and waffles.

Redemption

To redeem precious Loreli from the previous post by her father here are some cute pictures of the little lass.

okay. Maybe this one isn't so cute.

Oh, and by the way...Loreli took her first steps on Sunday! She's become so confident and brave and has been taking big steps all by herself! Oh and thanks for the hideous outfit Aunt Stacy to mark such a momentous milestone.

10 and 1/2 months

Once upon a time we were sitting down having dinner.  Loreli decided she was done with dinner and informed us her usual way.  This got me thinking, what if we all acted like 10 and 1/2 month olds?

1. When we finished a meal we would declare it by shoving everything off the table onto the floor.  Food, cups, utensils, everything off the table.
2.  Everyone would hate mornings because they got woken up by someone jabbing a finger into their brain through their eye socket or up their nose, or possibly just a good old slap to the face.
3.  Laundry would be a daily thing because licking each other's pants and shirts would be considered normal and even polite.

4.  Telling people you enjoyed their meal would be shown by rubbing as much of it on your face and in your hair as you can.
5. Barnes and Noble would be one of the most profitable companies in the world because we would all love books.  Second only to our love of books would be our love of tearing up books.
